My dream is becoming a reality

Today is my first day at Australian College of Hair Design and Beauty (ACHDB). I’m just so excited about it!

Here’s a background of the story:
In the past three or four months I’ve been really thinking about my future. If I would still be editing or writing in the next five years and will I want to be in this profession by the time I start my own family.

Then I start to think what I would really love to do, and that is to be a make-up artist. I love prettifying myself, creating natural and glam looks. But I could never do it on somebody else’s face. But I found out that it is something I would love to do and learn. I started researching on make-up classes and found two in the Makati area. So yeah, imagine me going to Makati everyday after work, so I thought, yeah, why not?! But I have to save up first for the tuition fee and other expenses I would be spending, thinking to myself, by next year, I’ll go for it.

But looks like fate got something else planned for me. About three weeks ago, my teamate (Aby) ym’ed me an article where my senior (Benok :) was featured in. It was Q TV’s site, wmn.ph. So I read the article, browsed the site since it was all about women, general kikay stuffs, health and so on. Then, that’s when I saw the article. An Australian college was opening in Podium! Wow! Coincidentally, my family and some friends were going to dinner in Podium. So I said to myself, why not check it out. So I did, and my! Was I impressed. It was a real school, with classrooms, a small pantry, library, and faculty room. Wow! I got so excited over the fact that this was the most convenient place for me to learn to be a make-up artist.

So, I put that idea aside, since I know I have to really save up first. The next week, someone from ACHDB texted me, saying they have a free make-up seminar all I have to do is send in my full name. I said to myself, what the heck, it’s free anyway. So I went to the seminar and saw how an Australian teacher faked a bruise, burn, and an open wound using some special make up. Then I got the chance to talk to some of the college’s teachers and even its director, Geni Gonzales. I got some price list of the course and whoa! was I surprised! Enrolling here would be like studying in a culinary school! But I knew I had to act now, if I even want to make my dream into reality. And so I did. Just last week, I enrolled, and uuhhmm paid. Well, I actually had to loan the money from Papa, since I didn’t have that kind of cash.

I hope in the future I’ll be one of the Philippines’ finest make-up artist (cross your fingers!)
